“I came here as a girl, brought my daughters, and now my grandbabies spin on the same stools. The butter pecan hasn't changed a bit — thank goodness.”
— Dorothy M., MetropolisA Counter Full Of Memories
Sunbeam Scoops opened in 1954 when the Alvarez family bought a shuttered pharmacy and kept its soda fountain exactly where it stood. The marble counter, the mirror, and six of the original stools are still here.
Three generations later, we still churn in small batches, still write the flavors on the board by hand, and still believe a first date, a good report card, and a Tuesday all deserve ice cream.
